The DSP or Digital Signal Processing can be considered as a conversion of analogue (or "real world") signals to digital form. The digital form can then be easily manipulated (filters, image processing…), transmitted (DAT, MiniDisc), or even converted to a new analogue signal, with a real-time performance.

The DSP is based on the Fourier theory, which is a mathematical object to transform an analogue (or real-time) signal to its "Fourier transform", and vice-versa.

The object of this document is mainly based on a theoretical introduction and a presentation of DSP applications. There is also plenty of reference on DSP processors and their technical details.
